Listen to Obituary

Roy Leon Ezell, age 62, of Heiskell, Tennessee, peacefully entered his heavenly home on June 21, 2026. Leon was a man of unwavering faith, a devoted member of the Baptist faith, and someone whose life reflected kindness, humility, and a servant’s heart. He loved the Lord, cherished his family, and found great joy in caring for those around him.

Leon retired from the Anderson County School System after faithfully serving as a janitor at Fairview Elementary School. To Leon, his work was much more than a job—it was a ministry. He took pride in keeping the school clean and welcoming, but what he treasured most were the relationships he built with the students and staff. Although he never had children of his own, he lovingly embraced the children at Fairview as if they were his own. He greeted them with a warm smile, encouraging words, and a caring heart that left a lasting impression on countless lives.

Family was one of the greatest blessings in Leon’s life. He deeply loved his sisters, nieces, nephews, and extended family, always looking forward to spending time together, sharing stories, laughing, and making memories. He was the kind of brother and uncle who could always be counted on—offering a helping hand, a listening ear, or quiet encouragement whenever it was needed. His love for his family was evident in both the big moments and the small, everyday acts of kindness that meant so much.

Leon also found peace and happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He loved tending to his garden, where he found joy in watching things grow, and he adored his beloved cat, “Little Bit,” who was a faithful companion. Leon had a gentle spirit and a compassionate heart that made everyone who knew him feel valued and welcomed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Ezell and Marie Ezell Foust, and his sister, Barbara Ezell.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving sisters, Carolyn Beason, Juanita Davis, twin sisters Brenda Faye Williams and Linda Kay Stokes, Darlene Simonds, and Elizabeth Yarber, along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and the many students and coworkers whose lives he touched throughout the years.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing Leon’s faith carried him home to be with his Savior. His legacy of love, compassion, humility, and quiet service will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

A Memorial Service celebrating Leon’s life will be held on July 25, 2026 at 11:00 am at Liberty Baptist Church in Heiskell, TN. Pastor Allen Giles will be officiating.

After the service, lunch will be served at the church. We welcome all who wish to stay, share a meal, remember Leon, and spend time together in fellowship.
