Reva Mae Tidwell McCoy Rush, a devoted cardiac nurse whose compassion and skill touched countless lives, passed away peacefully at her home on August 13, 2025, at the age of 93.
Reva was born on November 9, 1931, in Campbell County, and found her calling early in life: caring for others with both clinical expertise and a deep human touch. For more than 20 years, she dedicated her career to the field of cardiac nursing at Riverside Hospital in Newport News Virginia. Her work extended beyond the hospital walls; she was known to volunteer at Colony Friends Church in Virginia and Pleasant View Church in Clinton, TN. Reva also loved being a military wife, traveling, meeting new people and experiencing new adventures. Her hobbies included gardening, reading and caring for her dogs. Her kindness and wisdom enriched the lives of all who knew her.
Reva is preceded in death by her late husband of 49 years Emert McCoy and late husband Earl Rush, as well as brothers LD Tidwell and Bobby Tidwell. She is survived by her 3 children Emert McCoy Jr and wife Dale, Ann Hicks and husband Steve and Anita Norton and husband Bruce, 6 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Lillie Rhoads of Texas and Geneva Goodman and husband James and brother Glen Tidwell of TN.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday August 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Jones Mortuary.
