Brenda Jean Perkins, better known as “BJay”, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. BJay graduated from Clinton High School and attended Carson Newman College. BJay was larger than life. She loved baking cakes, coloring, making costumes and writing, eating her mom’s cooking and Haagen Daz ice cream at midnight. She loved spending time with her special nephews, Josh and Noah, and caring for her niece, Callie Perkins. Most of all, she loved her girls. She took great pride in supporting her daughters—watching Kelcie play softball, Liv dance, and Gracie sing—and held deep affection for her nephews, Josh and Noah. BJay was proud of her work at Hobby Lobby, six months of sobriety, and the friendships she made at Sober Living. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Gene Perkins.
BJay is survived by her mother, Sammie Perkins; daughters, Gracie Murphy and daughter-in-law, Lauren James, Kelcie Grubb, and Liv Grubb; sister, Christy Viles and special brother-in-law, Gary Viles; brother, Orie Perkins and family; longtime companion, Adam Grubb as well as many other relatives and friends.
BJay’s family will receive friends on Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 4:00pm-6:30pm at Jones Mortuary in Clinton, TN. Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 6:30pm. Graveside service and interment will be Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 2:00pm at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Powell, TN. The family invites everyone to wear pink to honor BJay.
