Listen to Obituary

Alvis Albert “Junior” Lowe, age 58, was born in Gary, Indiana and was a lifelong resident of Clinton, Tennessee. He passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday afternoon, January 29, 2026.

He was the beloved son of the late Alvis Albert Lowe and Nancy Helen Lowe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Lowe, Paul Lowe, Leslie Lowe, and J.R. Lowe, as well as his cherished son-in-law, Travis Garner.

Junior was united in marriage to Denise Gail Stepp on May 2, 2000, who survives him. He is also survived by his devoted sister, Theresa Ann Lowe of Claxton, Tennessee; his loving children, Alvis Albert Lowe III (Holly) of Clinton, Tennessee, Nancy Helen Jones (Andrew) of Berne, Indiana, and Jimmie Theresa Ann Lowe of Clinton, Tennessee; and his six treasured grandsons, Riley James Garner Lowe, Cooper Alan Lowe, Jayden Albert Jones, Jackson Gentry Lowe, Kyler Michael Allen Jones, and Ryker Andrew Jones.

He is further survived by special nephews, Michael Giles (Kelly) of Rocky Top, Tennessee and Terry Giles of Clinton, Tennessee; a beloved niece, Miranda Giles of Claxton, Tennessee; his lifelong friend, Shelly Case of Clinton, Tennessee; and several additional nieces and nephews.

Junior found his greatest joy in spending time with his grandsons, whether playing football and baseball in the yard or sharing moments together at home. He enjoyed watching classic westerns such as Gunsmoke and Bonanza, was a devoted Tennessee Volunteers supporter, and proudly followed the Indiana Hoosiers, celebrating their championship season this year. Known throughout Clinton for his kind spirit, Junior spent more than twenty years walking its streets, forming friendships with countless people and offering help whenever he saw someone in need. He worked faithfully through his church to provide meals to the homeless and was known for his generosity, often giving the shirt off his back to those who were struggling.

Before a car accident in 1988 changed the course of his life, Junior had shown great promise as a baseball player, a talent he carried with pride throughout his years.

In accordance with his wishes, Junior will be cremated. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Clinton, Tennessee at a later date.

This summer, his remains will be laid to rest on Graves Gap Mountain beside his mother, as he had requested.

Jones Mortuary is honored to serve the Lowe family.
